Happy new year to all our lovely customers! We hope you had a wonderful
Christmas and are looking forward to 2020.
We don’t normally send out a January newsletter, but have decided to this
year, for a couple of reasons ….
Firstly, welcome to our new-look newsletter! You may have noticed some
changes taking place over the last few months. We decided it was time to
‘refresh’ our brand as we’re now in our 17th year of business (I
know … extraordinary, isn’t it?!) We hope you like the changes, which have
a strong nod towards our previous logo and style, but with a cleaner, more
contemporary, feel. Let us know what you think 🙂
We re-open after the Christmas break this Friday, 3rd January,
and we’re going to kick things off, for 3 days only, with a
|
50% off sale on all our Christmas lights and decorations
|
(Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th January).
|
We’re also offering another great enticement for you to come and visit ….

Farmyard manure - Buy 3, get 4th free
|
This offer is for January only, while stocks last. It’s a great way to give
your garden a head start before spring. Lay it on thick over your beds and
borders and see what a boost it gives your emerging bulbs, herbaceous
perennials, climbers, shrubs and trees. Clematis, Wisteria and roses
produce a noticeably increased number of flowers if they get an early feed
of good manure. The only family of plants that won’t appreciate
manure are those that like ericaceous (lime free) soil – camellias,
heathers, azaleas, for example.
Talking of Wisteria, now is the time to give yours its winter prune. Please
refer to our information sheet on how to do
Wisteria pruning
if you want yours to look like this in a few months!

If the weather is dry enough, it’s well worth getting out and having a look
around your outside space.
-
Check fences and trellis haven’t been damaged
-
Top up your bird feeders
-
Make sure both your lawn and pond are free of leaves
-
Prune fruit trees
-
If snow is forecast, tie up Cordylines, conifers and other plants which
may be damaged by the weight of snow
-
Protect the developing core of tree ferns with old fronds or straw, if
you haven’t already done so
-
Remove old leaves from Hellebores to make the new blooms more visible as
they emerge
Once you’ve done your stint in the garden and come in from the cold, light
the fire! We have a good supply of olive, seasoned and kiln-dried wood, as
well as kindling and firelighters.
Hope to see you very soon at the garden centre.
Remember that our opening hours in January and February are 10am to 4pm every day, 7 days a week.
Warm regards
Karen and the team
